Get In Touch

For many families, finding the right childcare or preschool is one of the most important decisions they make. If you’re planning to enroll your child for the fall, it’s helpful to understand when to start the enrollment process to secure a spot.

At Lil’ People’s World Early Learning Centers, we encourage families to begin planning early. Our programs serve families across Bellevue, Kirkland, North Seattle, and nearby Eastside communities, and many classrooms fill quickly—especially for infant care and preschool programs.

Understanding the enrollment timeline can help parents feel confident and prepared when choosing the best early learning center for their child.

Why Early Enrollment Matters

Childcare and preschool programs in Bellevue and Kirkland are in high demand. Many families begin researching programs months in advance to ensure they find a center that meets their needs.

Applying early helps families:

  • Secure a spot in their preferred classroom
  • Schedule tours and compare programs
  • Plan transitions for infants, toddlers, or preschoolers
  • Complete paperwork and enrollment requirements without stress

Starting early also gives parents time to learn about curriculum, safety practices, and communication policies.

Typical Enrollment Timeline for Fall Programs

While each childcare center may have slightly different timelines, many families follow a similar schedule when preparing for fall enrollment.

January–February: Begin Research

Early in the year is a great time to start exploring options for childcare, preschool, or pre-K programs.

During this stage, families often:

  • Search for early learning centers in Bellevue and Kirkland
  • Read reviews and compare programs
  • Visit childcare center websites
  • Make a shortlist of potential schools

Parents searching for the best preschool in Bellevue or a Kirkland early learning program often begin their research several months before enrollment.

February–April: Schedule Tours

Once families identify a few preferred centers, the next step is scheduling tours.

Tours allow parents to:

  • See classrooms and learning environments
  • Meet teachers and administrators
  • Ask questions about curriculum and routines
  • Learn about safety procedures and communication systems

At Lil’ People’s World, we offer in-person and virtual tours so families can explore our early learning programs in a comfortable way.

March–May: Submit Applications

Many families submit enrollment forms during the spring to secure their spot for fall.

At this stage, parents may:

  • Complete enrollment paperwork
  • Provide required documentation
  • Confirm schedules and program options
  • Reserve classroom placement

Programs such as infant care and toddler childcare often fill the fastest due to smaller class sizes.

Summer: Prepare for the School Year

Once enrollment is confirmed, families can begin preparing for the upcoming school year.

Preparation may include:

  • Meeting teachers and classroom staff
  • Learning about daily routines
  • Preparing supplies and personal items
  • Helping children become familiar with the new environment

These steps help make the transition into childcare or preschool smoother.

What Families Should Ask During the Enrollment Process

When exploring childcare or preschool options, it’s helpful to ask questions that help you understand the program.

Consider asking:

  • What curriculum does the center use?
  • What are the teacher-to-child ratios?
  • How does the center communicate with families?
  • What safety and health procedures are in place?
  • Are there waitlists for certain age groups?

These questions can help parents make an informed decision when choosing an early learning center in Bellevue or Kirkland.

Pre-School Curriculum

We use a teaching strategy called “Creative Curriculum,” when educating our Pre-Schoolers. Creative Curriculum primarily focuses on:

Creative Curriculum for preschool is a comprehensive, science based, early childhood education curriculum that has demonstrated through studies to have a positive impact on the quality of the child’s classroom conduct, as well as improvements to cognitive and social-emotional development.

Creative Curriculum promotes positive physical, social, and cognitive outcomes for children through a variety of activities including fine motor, large motor, sensory, art, dramatic play, and science activities.

Toddler Curriculum

We use a teaching strategy called, “Creative Curriculum,” when educating our Toddlers. Creative Curriculum primarily focuses on:

The goal of our toddler curriculum is to help children develop both their body and their minds in a safe and healthy place. These early, positive interactions with caring adults can give young children the confidence they need to explore their surroundings and take joy in their day-to-day discoveries.

Examples of their day-to-day activities can be found in the weekly sample schedule included below.

Infant Curriculum

Our daily infant curriculum is broken up into four categories of development:

01
Physical Experience
To assure our infants reach their appropriate physical development milestones, we employ our Physical Experiences curriculum. Physical Experiences utilizes motor activities that focus on both large and small muscle development.
02
Listening and Talking Experience
Before the age of one, infants are learning to understand the things that we are saying. For this reason, we provide a Listening and Talking Experience, which includes reading books, singing songs, and talking about the surroundings to aid in their communication development.
03
Creative Experience
Creative Experience allows infants to explore the many beauties that arts and crafts expose our minds to. The process of ‘art with infants’ enables our children to explore and experiment with different smells, textures, and artistic tools as a means of facilitating an early understanding of creative thought and design.
04
Learning From the World
Learning from the World introduces the infant to the world around us, allowing us to aid in their sensory development within a free, yet controlled environment. Examples of these activities can be found in the weekly sample schedule included below.
