Summer is a season of discovery for young children. A quality summer preschool program keeps that curiosity alive between busy school breaks. For families near Sammamish and Bellevue, the right choice makes all the difference.

At Lil’ People’s World, we believe children learn best through play. Therefore, our summer approach blends fun, friendship, and gentle learning. Because of this, kids stay engaged all season long.

Are you searching for enriching care this summer? Then keep reading. This guide covers what to look for, what to ask, and how to choose wisely.

Why a Summer Preschool Program Matters

Children thrive on routine and connection. However, long summer gaps can slow that momentum. A structured summer program helps children stay socially and emotionally strong.

Additionally, summer offers unique learning chances. For example, warm days invite outdoor exploration and sensory play. As a result, children build confidence in new ways.

Families across Bellevue, Sammamish, and Redmond value this balance. Moreover, they want care that feels warm and familiar. That is exactly what a play-based center provides.

Play-Based Learning Never Stops

Play is how young children make sense of the world. Therefore, our teachers weave learning into every activity. Kids explore, question, and create daily.

For instance, a simple water table teaches early science. Meanwhile, a group art project builds teamwork. Children learn without even realizing it.

What to Look for in a Summer Preschool Program

Not every program fits every family. First, consider your child’s age and needs. Next, think about your schedule and location.

Here are key features to seek:

  • Play-based curriculum that supports whole-child growth
  • Caring, trained teachers who know early development
  • Flexible scheduling for busy Seattle-area families
  • Outdoor time and hands-on activities
  • A warm, home-like environment children enjoy

Furthermore, ask about daily routines. A predictable rhythm helps children feel safe. In addition, it eases separation for younger learners.

Safety and Comfort Come First

Parents want peace of mind above all. Therefore, tour the space and meet the staff. Notice how teachers greet the children.

Also, ask about health and cleanliness practices. A clean, cheerful setting supports happy learning. Because of this, children settle in faster.

Summer Fun Near Sammamish and Bellevue

The Seattle area shines in summer. From Bellevue parks to Sammamish trails, families enjoy the outdoors. A local program can build on this energy.

For example, nature walks spark curiosity about plants and bugs. Meanwhile, outdoor play strengthens growing bodies. As a result, children return home tired and happy.

Our approach reflects the community we serve. Additionally, we welcome families from Bellevue, Redmond, and North Seattle. Every child becomes part of our extended family.

Building Social Skills Through Summer Friendships

Summer is a wonderful time for friendships. Children meet new peers and practice sharing. Therefore, they grow more socially confident.

Our teachers guide these moments with care. For instance, they model kind words and gentle problem-solving. Over time, children learn to cooperate naturally.

Strong social skills matter for future success. According to the National Association for the Education of Young Children, social-emotional growth shapes lifelong learning. Because of this, we prioritize it every day.

Keeping Kids Engaged All Summer Long

Boredom fades fast in the right environment. Therefore, we plan varied, developmentally appropriate activities. Each day feels fresh and exciting.

Popular summer favorites include:

  • Water and sensory play on warm days
  • Creative art and messy projects
  • Music, movement, and dance
  • Story time and early literacy fun
  • Outdoor games and nature exploration

Moreover, these experiences support real growth. For example, art builds fine motor skills. Meanwhile, music strengthens memory and rhythm.

Learning Through Themes and Discovery

Themes give structure to summer fun. For instance, an ocean week sparks curiosity about sea life. Then a garden theme teaches how plants grow.

Children explore each theme through many senses. As a result, learning sticks. In addition, kids stay excited to return each day.

How to Prepare Your Child for Summer Care

A little preparation eases the transition. First, talk about the program with excitement. Next, visit together before the first day.

Here are simple tips for parents:

  • Practice a consistent morning routine
  • Pack a comforting item if allowed
  • Label all belongings clearly
  • Dress kids for messy, active play
  • Say a short, cheerful goodbye

Additionally, keep goodbyes calm and confident. Children take cues from parents. Therefore, a warm smile helps them feel secure.

Pre-School Curriculum

We use a teaching strategy called “Creative Curriculum,” when educating our Pre-Schoolers. Creative Curriculum primarily focuses on:

Creative Curriculum for preschool is a comprehensive, science based, early childhood education curriculum that has demonstrated through studies to have a positive impact on the quality of the child’s classroom conduct, as well as improvements to cognitive and social-emotional development.

Creative Curriculum promotes positive physical, social, and cognitive outcomes for children through a variety of activities including fine motor, large motor, sensory, art, dramatic play, and science activities.

Toddler Curriculum

We use a teaching strategy called, “Creative Curriculum,” when educating our Toddlers. Creative Curriculum primarily focuses on:

The goal of our toddler curriculum is to help children develop both their body and their minds in a safe and healthy place. These early, positive interactions with caring adults can give young children the confidence they need to explore their surroundings and take joy in their day-to-day discoveries.

Examples of their day-to-day activities can be found in the weekly sample schedule included below.

Infant Curriculum

Our daily infant curriculum is broken up into four categories of development:

01
Physical Experience
To assure our infants reach their appropriate physical development milestones, we employ our Physical Experiences curriculum. Physical Experiences utilizes motor activities that focus on both large and small muscle development.
02
Listening and Talking Experience
Before the age of one, infants are learning to understand the things that we are saying. For this reason, we provide a Listening and Talking Experience, which includes reading books, singing songs, and talking about the surroundings to aid in their communication development.
03
Creative Experience
Creative Experience allows infants to explore the many beauties that arts and crafts expose our minds to. The process of ‘art with infants’ enables our children to explore and experiment with different smells, textures, and artistic tools as a means of facilitating an early understanding of creative thought and design.
04
Learning From the World
Learning from the World introduces the infant to the world around us, allowing us to aid in their sensory development within a free, yet controlled environment. Examples of these activities can be found in the weekly sample schedule included below.
