Get In Touch

Summer brings warm days, curious minds, and endless energy. A quality summer preschool program helps children channel that energy into growth. In South Rose Hill, Kirkland, families want more than simple babysitting during these months.

Parents want play, learning, and connection. Therefore, choosing the right center matters. At Lil’ People’s World, we blend fun with meaningful early learning all summer long.

Below, we share what to look for and why summer programs support strong development. Additionally, we offer practical tips for Seattle-area families.

Why a Summer Preschool Program Matters

Summer is not a break from learning. In fact, it is a golden window for growth. Young children thrive when routines stay steady and playful.

A great summer preschool program keeps minds active between school years. Because of this, children return to fall settings feeling confident. Moreover, summer learning reduces the loss of key skills.

Learning Through Play

At our centers, children learn by doing. Play is their most natural teacher. As a result, lessons feel joyful, not forced.

For example, water play teaches early science. Building blocks introduce math and problem-solving. Meanwhile, group games build social skills.

Social and Emotional Growth

Summer offers relaxed time for friendships to bloom. Children practice sharing, turn-taking, and kindness. Therefore, they build social competence naturally.

Our caring teachers guide each interaction gently. Furthermore, they help children name big feelings. This support builds emotional confidence over time.

What Makes South Rose Hill Ideal for Families

South Rose Hill sits in a welcoming corner of Kirkland. Families here value community, green spaces, and connection. Additionally, the neighborhood offers easy access across the Eastside.

Nearby Bellevue and Redmond add even more options for busy parents. Meanwhile, North Seattle families reach the area with a short drive. As a result, our Kirkland location serves many Seattle-area communities.

A Home Away From Home

We treat every center like a child’s second home. The environment stays warm, safe, and child-centric. Because of this, children settle in quickly.

Teachers greet each child by name every morning. Then, they guide gentle transitions into the day. Consequently, mornings feel calm for parents too.

Inside Our Summer Curriculum

Our summer curriculum stays creative and play-based. We design each week around a fun theme. Therefore, learning feels fresh and exciting.

First, children explore hands-on activities. Next, they connect ideas through art and stories. Finally, they share discoveries with friends.

Sample Summer Themes

Themes keep young learners engaged all season. Also, they spark natural curiosity and wonder. Below are a few examples families love:

  • Nature explorers: gardens, bugs, and outdoor discovery.
  • Water and weather: gentle science and sensory play.
  • Community helpers: firefighters, doctors, and neighbors.
  • Art all around: painting, sculpting, and creating.
  • Music and movement: songs, dance, and rhythm.

Balancing Structure and Freedom

Children need both routine and open play. Therefore, we balance guided lessons with free choice. This mix supports every learning style.

For instance, mornings may include a group circle. Afterward, children pick their own play stations. As a result, they feel both supported and independent.

Health, Safety, and Daily Care

Safety always comes first at our centers. We follow trusted early childhood guidelines. Additionally, our staff maintains clean, organized spaces.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shares helpful early childhood guidance for families and providers. We use similar best practices every day. Because of this, parents feel confident and calm.

Outdoor Time and Fresh Air

Summer invites plenty of outdoor play. Sunshine and movement support healthy bodies. Moreover, fresh air boosts mood and focus.

We schedule daily outdoor time in shaded, safe areas. Meanwhile, teachers keep water and sunscreen close. Therefore, children stay comfortable and protected.

Nutrition and Rest

Growing children need good fuel and quiet time. Consequently, we build in nourishing snacks and rest. These moments recharge little bodies and minds.

Rest helps children process a busy day. Also, calm downtime supports emotional balance. As a result, afternoons stay smooth and happy.

Pre-School Curriculum

We use a teaching strategy called “Creative Curriculum,” when educating our Pre-Schoolers. Creative Curriculum primarily focuses on:

Creative Curriculum for preschool is a comprehensive, science based, early childhood education curriculum that has demonstrated through studies to have a positive impact on the quality of the child’s classroom conduct, as well as improvements to cognitive and social-emotional development.

Creative Curriculum promotes positive physical, social, and cognitive outcomes for children through a variety of activities including fine motor, large motor, sensory, art, dramatic play, and science activities.

Toddler Curriculum

We use a teaching strategy called, “Creative Curriculum,” when educating our Toddlers. Creative Curriculum primarily focuses on:

The goal of our toddler curriculum is to help children develop both their body and their minds in a safe and healthy place. These early, positive interactions with caring adults can give young children the confidence they need to explore their surroundings and take joy in their day-to-day discoveries.

Examples of their day-to-day activities can be found in the weekly sample schedule included below.

Infant Curriculum

Our daily infant curriculum is broken up into four categories of development:

01
Physical Experience
To assure our infants reach their appropriate physical development milestones, we employ our Physical Experiences curriculum. Physical Experiences utilizes motor activities that focus on both large and small muscle development.
02
Listening and Talking Experience
Before the age of one, infants are learning to understand the things that we are saying. For this reason, we provide a Listening and Talking Experience, which includes reading books, singing songs, and talking about the surroundings to aid in their communication development.
03
Creative Experience
Creative Experience allows infants to explore the many beauties that arts and crafts expose our minds to. The process of ‘art with infants’ enables our children to explore and experiment with different smells, textures, and artistic tools as a means of facilitating an early understanding of creative thought and design.
04
Learning From the World
Learning from the World introduces the infant to the world around us, allowing us to aid in their sensory development within a free, yet controlled environment. Examples of these activities can be found in the weekly sample schedule included below.
